During the “growing season,” when Mom utters the words “I have something for you” I tend to hold my breath. Recently that phrase meant, not a handful of the Thompson seedless grapes from her burgeoning arbor, but roughly 5 pounds.
Then something Mom said in passing came back–they’re great frozen. I threw the bunches on a baking sheet and into the freezer for a few hours. The frozen grapes were much easier to pluck off the stems and they were fabulous. Like a tiny grape juice popsicle.
They will keep for a long time if properly stored in good freezer bags or airtight containers. And in the middle of winter when you want a little pop of autumn, there they will be.
